People seem to have a much higher opinion of my sewing skills than I deserve. My family keeps asking me to sew things for them or help them sew other things. Here it is - I'm not that great a seamstress. In fact, I can't even sew a straight line. They only ask because I'm willing to make things up. I'll finagle patterns or make up my own. But, it never works out quite right, so I'm left wondering why they keep asking! You know on aptitude tests or whatever, where there's a box laid flat and you have to tell which symbol would be on the top if the box were folded up. Just because I can fold up the box, doesn't mean I have some sort of magical spatial relations powers that enable me to brilliantly produce a dress or a skirt or a even a doily. I can't! My sister asked me to make her a skirt - just whip that out of my back pocket - and it was a disaster. I forgot how to make pockets. Pockets! That's how much I don't know what I am doing. So, please, take this into account before you ask me for things. I'm just saying.
